Buying Diamond Stud Earrings
When buying diamond stud earrings you have a few more options in quality than you see with a more heavily scrutinized engagement ring diamond. The qualities you will find in the stores range from decent to absolute junk. In fact much of what the mall store sell as earrings is one step up from industrial quality diamonds. Even though going with the cheapest choice probably sounds appealing, in the end you are stuck with something that brings much less joy than you would expect for such a nice gift. Don’t get too hung up on too good to be true prices.
Here at Earring Express we believe jewelry needs to be beautiful as well as a great value and that’s why we guarantee that every pair of diamond stud earrings or diamond hoop earrings that we manufacture to be a great value but even more important they need to be bright and beautiful.
The Four C’s apply to any diamond purchase so when deciding what size and quality of diamonds you should choose for your earrings you need to keep the following in mind;
Clarity
A clarity grade assigned to a diamond determined by the absence of inclusions (internal) and blemishes (external). The entire jewelry trade abides by the grading standards set forth by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and any professional should be able to tell you in no uncertain terms what they think any diamond will grade out as at the GIA Lab. We are GIA Trained and guarantee that every pair of diamond studs that we sell has been graded to GIA standards. The GIA grading scale runs from Internally Flawless (IF) to I3 (heavily included).
Color
The less color a diamond has the higher their value. The GIA color grading scale runs from D (colorless) to Z (Canary Yellow). Most diamonds used in jewelry runs from D to J in color. When choosing diamonds for your earrings a good rule of thumb is if you are getting white gold diamond studs you should stay H color or better and if you are looking at yellow gold diamond studs you can go I-J in color and save a little money because the yellow metal will make the diamonds face whiter.
Cut
The cut of any diamond has three attributes. Fire (the dispersion of light into colors of the spectrum) brilliance (the total light reflected from a diamond) and scintillation (the sparkle you see as a diamond is moved). The traditional 58 facets in the Modern Round Brilliant cut diamond are fashioned so that the stone returns the maximum amount of light to the eye. The difference between a nicely cut diamond and a poorly cut diamond can be explained as to why some diamonds stud earrings sparkle like they are on fire and others look like glass. We only use fine cut diamond in all of our designs so you can be sure that if you get your earrings from us they will shine.
Carat Weight
Just like you can divide one dollar into 100 pennies, a one-carat diamond can be divided into 100 points. For example a three quarter diamond should weigh approximately 75 points and a quarter carat would weigh 25 points. Diamond earrings are referred to in total-weight, which is the combined weight of all the diamonds in the pair. A pair of diamond stud earrings with a .25 on each side would be referred to as .50 total-weight. We carry diamond studs and diamond hoop earrings in a wide range of weight so we can help you find a great pair of quality diamond earrings in your budget.
The most important thing to keep in mind when buying diamond stud earrings or diamond hoop earrings; is that the quality of the diamonds will have a strong effect on the beauty of the finished product. We have been manufacturing fine jewelry for over 20 years and offer a 30 day money back guarantee on every pair of diamond earrings we sell so you can feel confident that you will be happy with your purchase when you work with us.
